About the association

What the association does

The association is run by a volunteer board elected by the homeowners. Its day-to-day work covers a few areas:

• Common areas. Maintaining the entrance, shared green space, and any amenities the association owns.
• Covenants. Administering the recorded covenants that all lots in the subdivision are subject to, including architectural review.
• Finances. Collecting annual dues, paying for shared services, and maintaining a reserve for larger repairs.
• Communication. Keeping residents informed through meetings, this site, and direct notices when something needs immediate attention.

Boundaries

Deer Point sits in Oakland Township, off West Gunn Road and west of Rochester Road, with a Rochester 48306 mailing addresses. The subdivision comprises 61 lots across five streets:

Deer Point Drive
Elk Court
Elk Drive
Fawn Drive
White Tail Drive

Every one of those 61 lots is a member of the association and is subject to the recorded bylaws and deed restrictions.

History

The Deer Point Subdivision Association was incorporated in 1997, ahead of construction, as is typical when a subdivision is platted. Homes were built out over roughly the following eight years, from 1998 through 2005, which is why the subdivision's parcel numbers fall into several distinct blocks rather than one continuous run.

The houses are predominantly colonial in style and range from about 2,400 to 6,400 square feet on wooded lots.

Since incorporation, the association has been governed continuously by a volunteer board elected from among the homeowners.

Getting involved

Every homeowner in Deer Point is a member of the association. Board seats come up for election on an annual basis or whenever there is a vacancy. If you would like to help, come to a meeting or contact the board.
